AFROVIBES FESTIVAL 2026: SOIL | SOUL
Afrovibes Festival presents contemporary dance, theatre and music by artists from Africa and the African diaspora in the Netherlands. From an African perspective, they give artistic expression to urgent questions that resonate worldwide: about identity, belonging, history and the future. Stories and perspectives that often remain underrepresented are brought to the stage through distinctive and thought-provoking performances.
The theme of Afrovibes 2026 is Soil | Soul. In a world where land is increasingly at the centre of conflict and power, African artists explore the meaning of land, ancestry and spiritual connectedness. In many African worldviews, land is more than territory: it is a source of memory, ancestors, rituals and identity. What does it mean to be connected to the ground you live on? And what happens when you are separated from your origins?
The 23rd edition of Afrovibes Festival starts on 1 October. Until 4 October, Afrovibes presents a festival programme in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht around the theme Soil | Soul, featuring performances from, among others, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Congo-Brazzaville, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa.
The 22nd edition of the Afrovibes Festival starts on October 2! Until October 12, we will be presenting a festival program in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Haarlem around the theme Legacy with performances from South Africa, Ivory Coast, Cape Verde and the Netherlands, among others.
