Bright O. Richards


In Maaspodium Future Citizens tells the story of Zaina. She fled from Rwanda and found her place in the Netherlands. She now works in the social and legal sector. Zaina will be played by actress Barbara Willemsen. Barbara is a theater maker and creative writer. She performed in her own shows such as Soccer Mom and De Òrìṣà.
Hafed’s story is told in Bijlmer Parktheater. He fled Yemen and is now working in civil engineering. Hafedh is played by performing artist, comedian and TV presenter Mo Hersi. His first book, ‘The integration course for white people’, was published in 2021.
Music in Future Citizens is by Nawras Altaky and Lamin Kuyateh. Future Citizens is a sequel to New Dutch Connections’ award-winning production, ‘The Bright Side of Life’. A theater performance as a means of building an inclusive society. Future Citizens is about the search for how we move forward together and what we can mean for each other. Enter into dialogue, build a relationship and connect. That is the essence of Future Citizens.
