After 8 years, Katy Streek leaves Afro_Vibes as programmer. Katy has put the festival firmly on the map. First as programmer of the fringe program (with an artists in residence program for talent development, master classes and panel discussions). In recent years, together with artistic director Jay Pather, she set up the full program of the festival and became more and more the face of Afro_Vibes. The board thanks Katy for her great contribution to the development of the festival.
Marjorie Boston is the new programmer of Afro_Vibes as of May. Marjorie was artistic director at production house MC until the end of 2012. In 2013 she founded RIGHTABOUTNOW INC foundation which coaches professional theatre makers, organizes talent development and international exchange projects and organizes the RIGHTABOUTNOW festival. Main spearheads for Marjorie are urban and cultural diversity and new narrative forms. Focal points which, according to the Afro Vibes board, are an excellent match for the Afro_Vibes Festival. Marjorie: "I think it would be great to use my experience, energy and my belief in the power of art and culture for an organization such as Afrovibes that aims to serve and promote the interaction between multidisciplinary (performing) arts and a culturally diverse audience. Moreover, an international art institution that does not fear changes in its course in the interests of arts and culture and a global society." Welcome Marjorie!
