 Dark Side of Paradise - Correct raping
Although South Africa’s laws make it one of the most liberal nations in Africa on gay rights, there is a horrible phenomenon of rape against lesbians in townships. This documentary tells the unbelievably heroic and tragic stories of women that were particularly targeted for gang rape to “correct” them of their sexual preference.

Several films at UK leg of the Festival
Kwa Mashu: Still My Home
At points during the festival the venues will be showing progressive South African Cinema. This will start at the Albany, who will show Kwa Mashu: Still My Home, a film about South African’s oldest township, born out of the forced removal of Africans from Cator Manor (in Durban), and the people who live there and call Kwa Mashu home. Also a selection of short films will be shown which explore sexuality, artistic expression and femininity.
