Double Bill / A Face like mine & Kiss! The Women

A Face like Mine

In this strong lyrical and sensual sonnet actress Asanda Phewa explores the fragmented perceptions black women have of themselves. This is a deeply personal examination of what it means to be a young black woman in today’s society, and also to dream of what it would be like to be a white girl. The piece delves into the highly complex question of what makes up culture and identity and what people’s preconceptions are. Asanda tackles the subject in a very intense and intimate way, with her own naked body and dark skin.
